Rodrigo Tomillo, Conductor
Born in Spain, Rodrigo Tomillo studied in Sevilla, Paris and Frankfurt am Main, where he studied piano and Conducting under the Professor Wojciech Rajski. As assistant he worked with the celebrated conductors Lothar Zagrosek (Staatsoper Berlin), Markus Stenz (Oper Köln), Yakov Kreizberg (Komische Oper Berlin) and Paolo Carignani (Oper Frankfurt).
As repetitor he worked at the Opera of Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Gießen and Mainz. At the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern he was appointed from 2010 to 2016 as Second Conductor and in the 2016/2017 season he became First Conductor. Currently he holds the position of First Conductor at Theater Hagen.
In the 2014/15 concert season, Tomillo made acclaimed guest conducting debuts in the Staatstheater Münster with Puccini’s Tosca and in the Staatstheater Mainz with Verdi’s Traviata. He also made his debut in Austria in the most celebrated Tiroler Landestheather in Innsbruck with Hänsel und Gretel, opera from Engelbert Humperdinck.
Rodrigo Tomillo is Principal Guest Conductor of the Polska Filharmonia Kameralna. Additional highlights of recent seasons include leading the Brandenburger Symphoniker, Philharmonie Südwestfallen, Staatsorchester Darmstadt, Philharmonisches Orchester Giessen, Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Mainz, Osnabrücker Symphonieorchester, Sinfonieorchester Münster, Tiroler Symphonie Orchester, Niederbayerische Philharmonie, Philharmonie Frankfurt, Kammerorchester Darmstadt, Orquesta de Cámara de Galicia, Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla y Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria.
